On the Other Hand
OK - I mentioned previously the advantages and disadvantages of both Wordpress and Blogger. Let me expand.
This past weekend I considered changing hosting for my sites. I’ve had a few problems occasionally and almost made the change. Things were fixed but . . . . .
I have probably about 6 blogs tied into this hosting. If I made the change, transferring web sites is pretty simple ; You just download the files from the current host and upload to the new host - changing domain address with your domain host.
However - it unfortunately is not quite that easy switching Wordpress. Keep that in mind. However - How to Transfer Wordpress Files When Changing Hosting is an excellent article on how to accomplish this and I have used it in the past. It still can be a little daunting - and time consuming.
On the other hand, using Blogger - Google can shut you down with no warning and never answer any questions you have as to why they did so. That is scary. It does happen - to websites as well as Blogger blogs. It seems unfair but no one can do anything about it. So you have to be careful.
Yep - this is a post on some disadvantages but don’t let that discourage you. Google is not the only player in town. One of my websites, with a PR6, was apparently banned by Google. I can get no explanation. NONE! However, due to a lot of link ins, and the fact the site ranks very highly on Yahoo and other search engines, I still get a lot of traffic.
Hey - would love to be back on Google but it won’t destroy you. That’s the warning as to Blogger but I still have one blog I do at Blogger and - it is as easy as it can possibly be to set up a blog there. I am going to check more into the option to host it on your own website and will get back to you when I learn more about this option.
I’ve rambled. I just want you to keep things in mind when you blog.
